LeBron James receives injury update ahead of Sunday's game
Jeremy Schnell/Arizona Sports
LeBron James has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers. James has a left calf contusion, which he injured against the Phoenix Suns in Friday’s win.
James finished the game on Friday but won’t be available against Portland. The 38-year-old is averaging 25/8/5 in his 21st season in the league. These are impressive numbers, and his presence will be missed against the Blazers.
His co-star, Anthony Davis, is available, and LA will need him to lead the charge. Davis needs to get going on offense early and stay consistent throughout the game.

Darvin Ham’s rotation has been battered with injuries early this season. They will need big games from D’Angelo Russell and Austin Reaves as primary ball-handlers with James out.
Ham will also need role players to step up in the scoring department. Rui Hachimura and Cam Reddish will have pivotal roles in Sunday’s game.
While the Lakers will miss James, this is a winnable game. The Blazers are a young team that is also dealing with multiple injuries.
LA still has a competent lineup with James out and should improve to 5-5 on the season.
James’ injury doesn’t seem long-term, and the Purple & Gold has the talent to win games during his absence.
